Why the reverse direction gets its own page
Listings and brochures speak square feet. Registries and older deeds across North India speak gaj. The moment you compare a builder's 1,500 sq ft against a registry entry, you are converting the other way, and most converter pages make you do it in your head or bury it in an FAQ. This page does the division and shows the remainder, because "166 gaj and six square feet over" is what you will read on the ground.

Brochures and portals quote carpet, built-up or plot area in square feet. Use the plot figure if you are matching a deed.
Divide by 9
1,500 ÷ 9 = 166.67 gaj. The floor drawing shows the same thing as 166 whole blocks and six loose tiles.
Check which figure the other side used
If a portal converted with the 8.91 square guz, their gaj number will be about 1% higher than yours. Switch the factor to match before you compare.

Because 9 is exact, any square-feet figure that is a multiple of 9 converts to a whole number of gaj. Anything else leaves a remainder, and the remainder is the number of one-foot tiles left over after the last full block. Gaj to square feet

- Exactly 100 gaj. Nine hundred is a multiple of nine, so nothing is left over.
- 1,500 sq ft= 166.67 gaj
- 1500 square feet to gaj is 166.67 — 166 full blocks and six tiles, or 168.28 gaj if the source used the guz figure.
- 1,800 sq ft= 200 gaj
- 200 gaj even. A common two-hundred-gaj plot is 1,800 square feet.

Is the reverse of 9 always divide by 9?
For plot listings that use 1 gaj = 9 square feet, yes. If the source used the square guz at 8.91359, you divide by 8.91359 to get back to the same gaj figure. Mixing the two gives an answer that is about 1% off.
